Back to basics
Okay, so I decided to picked up oil painting again. I have not been oil painting for almost 10 years now. The Michelangelo's David Photoshop was a “test” drive for oil painting. Definitely, did not help.
So let's see.
Step 1.
I started with charcoal sketch on canvas. Hey, I don’t really know what is the official way to do this thing. I think I’m a pretty decent sketcher. Pretty good I guess, aside from the fact that it doesn’t look like the sculpture at all.

Step 2.
I really have no idea what to do. Ten years ago, I had instructor! He is incredibly talented. Anyway, I draw over the sketch using black paint. Let’s see if this do me any good.

Step 3.
Next, I tried to use color and I got swamp-thing. I started from the dark area first. Whether or not this helps, that’s another story. Did I mention I did not know what I was doing? Great.

Step 4.
Take note: I always starts with the eyes when I draw portrait. Eyes are difficult to draw, so if you screw up, you can immediately start over

Step 5.
Hey there, now you look pretty good I guess. Crap! I forget I need to do the hair also. What to do???

Step 6.
Hmm, the hair is tough. Hair is actually one of my weakest point. Hmm, need to draw more.

Step 7.
Lesson to myself. Do not draw in under yellow lights. Always use white lights! This looks really gray! And he looks like 40 years old! Ah well. To be continued.
So let's see.
